Miracle cure

Buteyko - a miracle cure?

In my experience, although the Buteyko breathing method is not a miracle cure, it is the solution to asthma.

Why isn't it a cure? It can't be called a cure any more than dieting is the cure to obesity. It depends on the individual's determination not to make the same mistakes again. If you lose several stones in weight you are always aware that, if you go back to your old eating habits, you'll put the weight back on.

Similarly, if you retrain your breathing and get rid of your asthma, you know that if you don't continue to breathe correctly the symptoms will come back.

The good news is that it's much easier to keep your breathing normal than it is to resist that box of chocolates. This is because the chocolates take a long time to show on your waistline whereas if your breathing reverts to its old habits, it only takes a few days before you don't feel so well.

This gives you a chance to do a few exercises and get it right again before too much harm is done. That's all it takes.

I can assure you it's worth it for a life free from an ever-increasing dependence on asthma drugs, which are themselves not a cure. In fact, Asthma UK states that for 500,000 people in the UK alone, current medication does not work. The Buteyko breathing method does!
